Metallic epoxy flooring uses metallic powder pigments — mixed into a 100% solids clear epoxy resin — poured onto a diamond-ground concrete slab. As the epoxy self-levels and the metallic particles settle and move, they create swirling patterns that resemble marble, flowing lava, liquid metal, or deep ocean water. No two metallic epoxy floors ever look identical. The effect is entirely determined by how the epoxy flows across your specific slab.
The final surface is sealed with a high-gloss UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat that deepens the metallic effect, prevents yellowing from the California sun, and creates a hard, chemical-resistant surface rated for vehicle traffic, retail foot traffic, and daily commercial use.

How a Metallic Epoxy Floor Gets Made
The visual effect of metallic epoxy is created during installation — and it can only be executed correctly on a properly prepared surface. Here's what happens on every project.
The slab is diamond-ground to remove any contamination, coatings, or laitance. This creates the mechanical profile that allows the epoxy to bond permanently to the concrete — not just sit on top of it.
All cracks, divots, and control joints are filled and leveled. With a high-gloss finish like metallic epoxy, any unrepaired defects in the slab will be visible in the final floor — so we address every one before coating.
A 100% solids epoxy base layer is applied. In some metallic systems, a colored base coat is used to deepen the contrast and visual complexity of the metallic layer above it.
Clear epoxy mixed with metallic pigments is poured across the slab and spread. As the epoxy self-levels, our installer uses application tools to create and guide the swirl patterns, achieving the desired visual effect before the epoxy sets.
A clear polyaspartic topcoat is applied over the cured metallic layer. This seals and protects the metallic pigments, adds depth to the visual effect, and provides UV protection, chemical resistance, and the final high-gloss sheen.

No two metallic floors ever look the same, which is a major part of their appeal.
Very well. The underlying epoxy system is the same 100% solids formula used in our standard garage floor coatings, sealed with a polyaspartic topcoat rated for vehicle traffic. Hot-tire pick-up resistance depends on topcoat thickness and application — we specify topcoat products appropriate for vehicle environments on every garage project.
Yellowing is inevitable. We use a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat specifically because UV exposure in Orange County is significant. Standard epoxy topcoats yellow noticeably within 1–2 years of direct sun exposure. Our polyaspartic clear coat is formulated to resist UV degradation and maintain its clarity for much longer.
Sweep or dust mop regularly to prevent scratching from grit and debris. Damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner as needed. Avoid harsh acids, bleach, or solvent-based cleaners that can dull the topcoat. There's no waxing, polishing, or periodic resealing required. Annual inspection of the topcoat is recommended for high-traffic areas.

Vinyl flake adds decorative broadcast chips between the base coat and topcoat — creating a textured, multi-color speckled surface with built-in slip resistance.
